Mother's Day 2012

My father used to tell me that our children are testaments to the improvement of the species. However, I am not even close (not even halfway) to the grandness, depth and vastness of my mother - both in her capacity to celebrate love and sacrifice for love. I truly understand why my own daughter, defines home - as her grandmother's lap.

I thank God that my mother is still alive and healthy. Though our mothers live in our hearts forever, no one can truly underestimate the value of being able to talk to them and touch them. For those whose mothers have passed on - I may never be able to imagine the longing you may have for your mother today, but know that they are ever with us in spirit, if not in body.

For those who never got to know their mothers, please know that the universe always provides us mothers whether we go; if not in blood - but in heart and spirit.

For those who were abandoned by their mothers and never got the chance to feel their mother' love, LOVE itself cradles us safely in her womb. Continue opening your heart to love - and when you feel that powerful energy - know that , that is how it feels to be loved by a mother.

For those who had mothers but did not feel their love - remember that even mothers long for their mother's love - and sometimes - though they always have that love for you - their pains have shut them from expressing it in actions and words; or no one has shown them how to do it. It will not diminish your capacity to love though.

And for me, who is very fortunate to have been raised in the unconditional love of my mother - ever pervading, ever expressed. I say my deepest loving gratitude to my mother for giving me a daily glimpse of what God's love could be like.

Thank you Nay, and I love you. I wish for every child to know what it is like to have a mother like you.
