The Journey

We made a journey to the place that existed
in our dreams
A place we’d spend all night talking
excitedly about till we fell fast asleep
A journey to impossible places of vibrant
dessert oases and lands only explored in our minds
We’d chatter excitedly about it till the
wee hours, the light of dawn nudging us that it was time to sleep.
How long had we been up in wakeful
dreaming?
Of that journey that we’d take to those
places we’ve imagined in Technicolor
Waterfalls that cascade among the blooms of
many kinds and in a minute we’d be in a coconut beach that a Gauguin beauty
would grace
Now, I’ve been to many places that we would
only dream about before
And you have charted your own course in
this momentary path
I go near and far to many places and see
multifaceted experiences, tastes and treasures
But, can I journey and come back to that
time when we were filled with eager anticipation when we spoke of journeys?
