8:13am, Thursday, Day 2 ( School Cycle)
Since I started meditating with candle, incense and flowers with Aaliaa in the evenings about 3 days ago, she would remind me every evening that it's time for us to meditate. She would end our meditations saying, "tomorrow again, Mama, ok?". The last time, we did it in the living room and last night we did it it in the privacy of our bedroom.
She kept on complaining that she can not see the light and colors I was telling her about. But I said, start by visualizing it or imagining it. Can you see it now? Then she would say no but only in her imagination. Until last night, she said mama I can see a rainbow in the incense smoke. Then I said, "of course you can see it" . Then she said "no, not in my imagination, I really see it". I replied again, "I know that". I knew she could see it because I saw it myself, but she started believing I really bgelieved in her when I said which color is where in that gracefully rising and bending fragrant smoke.
Then when I was meditating, she said " Mama, I can see light coming out of your head." I was delighted to hear that , even if I presumed it was her imagination. I replied, " Isn't it like a fountain bursting out of my head?", she said "no, very small and thin like a flashlight mixed with white and yellow"..
I want to keep this bonding time with my daughter every evening. Just the two of us in our bedroom meditating for an hour. She, of course, every few minutes or so, walks and moves around only to return again or roll in the bed. When I asked her , "it's hatha yoga time and then meditation time" she said " watch me, Mama ". She was on a headstand and chanting OM". Trying to be smart about it by doing 2 things at the same time he,he.
Yesterday, the day ended with my first ELT ( Executive Leaders Team) meeting. Together with the principal, the Vice-principal and the coordinators we reviewed, reflected and planned on the year. When it was my time to express my reflections of the workshops and passing along teachers' comments. I felt supported and understood by the team by explaining to me rationale behind circumstances. And I understood it and I found peace. Many of my anxieties ended.
ON why we have to do horizontal maps all over again: Curriculum review happens yearly. E-mailing horizontal maps took Zoe (the past MYPC) a long time to gather all information ( we cannot afford that now esp with the consulatation coming from Singapore next month).
ON why semester plans had to be submitted first: Logically so but also for Atlas rubicon software and ensuring submission with abreater strength than before.
ON why Interdisciplnary learning was given a short amount of time : only to jumpstart it, and be given ample time in the future more consistently
General: Transition of 7-8 in Ganga Campus is going on, all MYP coordinators are new including the VP and we are on a search for a new Principal. First semesters usually include more isuues like induction and new students etc.. in comparison with second semester.
To close today's blog journal, on my way to the office, the Reverend Noel Jackson passed by and said to me "Filipinos are so colorful, they wear colorful clothes and makes our lives filled with colors! "He smiled and left. I am the only Filipino in that school this year. And yes, I was smiling and wearing colorful clothes! :P
I hope to make it in the yoga class this afternoon.
p.s. Yesterday, I had more students transferring into my class and other students who were recently transferred are going to the VP's office requesting to be returned to my class...
