My First Week on the Job
It's Friday. I gave my first workshop for new MYP (Middle Years Program) teachers. They liked the video we prepared 3 years ago on ATLs(Approaches To Learning). They seem to somehow welcome the MYP. It wasn't as boring or scary as I thought.
I spent my first few days meeting and comforting new parents leaving their kids behind. It was nice smiling and laughing with them.
It was lovely meeting old students with a hug and meeting new students whom I will spend a huge amount of my time with for the next 2 years. I am very glad to see them very excited to be back in my class. Those who were transferred to another teacher this year fought for their way back to my class. I am honored. Most of them made it back without conflicts in their schedules.
I braved myself to practice breathing, visualization and gratitude in each of my high school classes every session. I feel satisfied with that. I emphasized healthy relationships with oneself and others as an important goal in education. We did a lot of "moving around" activities as well as games. We had fun! I still get new students transferring to my new classes. Once again, I am honored.
I feel blessed. I pray to keep my quality time with my husband and daughter.
I am grateful.
