"One day, you will leave me.."

June 25,2006

It’s been 13 to 14 ( 18 years for 2010 )years now since she said that…

It was lunch at the college cafeteria… a bubbly restless soul comes hopping to my direction asking my name and my interests..it was my first of that experience and ’til this day..my last.

That moment was followed by the endless little notes, banana que strolls, little escapades, the Kennedy’s, letters from wherever in the country she was ..

The little gifts became big gifts, small mails from near became big mails from afar..we kept in touch..we kept out of touch…we kept in touch again.

My friends became her friends, my family became hers, she became a household name!

She came to trips to Baguio and Sagada with my friends, she’d live with my friend’s sister in Vancouver, she’d travel with my mom without me, then she’d bring my dad back home from India to the Philippines that I may have my grand escapade traveling alone in India for 3 months… I couldn’t have had that life-changing trip without her making me feel safe and relaxed that my dad will be brought home well and safe in good hands.

Of course, she’d lose my treasured books amongst many other things;but she is far more worth than things that can be replaced. She enjoys life’s quirks and little accidents and surprises… I didn’t necessarily enjoy that, but it was fun, except losing my father at the Howrah train station in Calcutta. Prepare for a little misadventure when you are with her, you’ll still both end up alive anyway.

She saw me meet the first man I gave my heart to, saw me fall..and fall again.. Then we both met my husband for the first time together…

12 years later, She became my first child’s godmother..

And she will see the next, and the next and the next….

I’m working on Immortality, by the way. In fact, she’s working on it too! Then we could blog our way saying.. She said that a few hundred years ago!
