The Graduating Class of 2009

With me, right now, are gentle bright souls. Humble, open, and kind. Their hearts are reaching out (well, most of them). The others are strong and independent, ready to take on the world and will settle for nothing but the best. I will miss them greatly. They are my first IB Psychology students. I am grateful that they have welcomed me and asked me to stay when I was willing to sacrifice my fondness of them to another teacher whom I felt could give them better scores in the final day. I am grateful for their smiles, their politeness, their patience - most of all, for sharing themselves. Some of them have graced and honored me with their tears, their secrets, their lives -their hearts. Some have trusted me by listening to what I have to say about what confronts them. They have given me a gift so beautiful- one - is welcome, and the other- acceptance. They are the gentlest of the lot, and it will be their greatest strength.
I had these old souls in young bodies for a year.. ( In sepia pictures ) They have done nothing but remind me of the power of their generation and that, it didn't feel too far away from mine. They talked about freedom, authenticity, a non-judgmental mind and a spirituality that grounded them in their lives. They were an explosion of energy and had the passion to have their existence known. It was a powerful year meeting powerful souls...

Thank you, to all of you..
